The starting point was an image that had stayed in my subconscious—one of those traditional school chairs that filled classrooms in the 80s and 90s. Made with a relatively thick tubular frame for maximum durability, with a plywood seat and backrest. Our reinterpretation began there, focusing on how to give personality to a piece that we don’t exactly remember fondly for its beauty or design. Col takes those two basic elements—the tubular frame and plywood panels—and reimagines them with updated contours and a silhouette suited to our time. The chair features a double metal frame connecting both panels, which can also be upholstered for added comfort.
